Syrian-Iranian cooperation in pharmaceutical industries discussed

Damascus, SANA- Minister of Industry Kamal Eddin Tu’meh called for including the basic needs, particularly the pharmaceutical ones, within the credit line between Syria and Iran after a huge part of the Syrian pharmaceutical factories have been destroyed at the hands of the armed terrorist organizations.

Syria is in need for a factory for producing serums, a production line of suspensions and for bringing the Iranian medicines in huge containers to package them in Syria, while the medicines which are put in ampoules and vials can be imported as they are and later they can be packaged at Arab Medical Company “TAMICO”, Tu’meh said Monday during a meeting with the visiting head of the Committee for Development of Iranian-Syrian Economic Relations Rostam Ghasemi, and the accompanying delegation.

The Minister added that the importance of the credit line between Syria and Iran comes from its significant role in enhancing the Syrian economy, indicating that restoring normal status of the factories and production will enhance the Syrian Pound “Lira”.

For his part Ghasemi indicated Iran’s self-sufficiency with regard to producing most of its industrial needs despite of imposing sanctions on it.

He added that his country signed a significant investment agreement with Syria that covers the spheres of oil, industry, mineral resources, agriculture, transportation and phosphate and that this agreement paves the way for Iran to make more investments in the field of the pharmaceutical industries in Syria.

He stressed the readiness of the Iranian companies, which are able to make investments in Syria, to establish factories of serums and suspensions, in addition to the possibility of investing other factories in all the domains based on the demand of the Ministry of Industry.

He referred to the possibility of selling a stake of SAIPA automobile manufacturing Company to Syria to benefit from the credit line, pointing out that his country agrees on allowing the Iranian company of Iran Khodro “Sham” Company to benefit from the credit line.

In turn, Minister Tu’meh indicated the possibility of bringing hospitals’ needs and other medical sectors from those factories as soon as they will be invested, as they are designed according to a production capacities that meet the needs of the market along with high Iranian experiences which make their costs less and the marketing easier.
