Prospects of cooperation in spinning and weaving sector between Syria and Egypt discussed

Damascus, SANA – A delegation of Egypt’s General Syndicate for Spinning and Weaving stressed support to their fellow Syrians specially that this industry in Syria has been heavily affected by the four-year-long terrorist crisis in the country.

The delegation was invited to come to Syria by the Vocational Union of the Syndicates of Spinning and Weaving Workers in Syria.

Both sides discussed during their meeting on Thursday prospects of cooperation to speed up work to increase production at the sector in Syria.

Chairman of the Union, Omar al-Hilo, briefed the Egyptian delegation on the grave impacts of the terrorists’ systematic targeting of the spinning and weaving sector, whose aspects include deliberate destruction, loot, burning and theft.

He noted that work and production have resumed at facilities in the areas where terrorists were forced out by the army, adding however that the work is running in accordance with the limited capabilities, raw materials and electric power available.

For his part, head of the Egyptian delegation, Hussein al-Shafei, hailed the steadfastness of the Syrian workers in face of the extraordinary work conditions they have to put up with and stressed the Egyptian workers’ support for them.
