Cuban official calls on international community to protect the historical heritage of Palmyra

Havana, SANA- Director of the Cuban National Ballet School, Alicia Alonso called on the international community to protect the monuments of the historical city of Palmyra from being destroyed at the hands of the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) Takfiri terrorist organization.

She expressed, during a photo exhibition dubbed “Alicia Alonso in Palmyra’, which was opened in Pinar del Rio Province in Cuba, concern over the historical heritage of Palmyra city after ISIS terrorist organization controlled the city and wreaked havoc and destruction in it.

The exhibition, includes many photographs showing Alonso in Palmyra city during a visit that she had paid in 1993, and will last until June 30th in Pinar del Rio Province to move then to other Cuban provinces.
