Premier al-Halqi underlines need for new university admission techniques

Damascus, SANA-Prime Minister Dr. Wael al-Halqi said promoting human resources assumes a center stage among priorities as it constitutes a primary basis for a comprehensive development.

Al-Halqi, who chaired a meeting of the University Admission Higher Committee for the forthcoming academic year, said the terrorist war against Syria has sought to wreak havoc to the capabilities of the Syrian state and people, which he said has incapacitated the performance of industrial, technical, medical, scientific and research sectors.

The Premier stressed the necessity of developing new techniques for university admission that achieve social justice and connects the output of education with the job market.

As he hailed the role of the Education and Higher Education ministries and their fruitful coordination that made a success of the educational process this year, al-Halqi underlined the importance of opening new universities, faculties and institutes and increasing the number of educational centers to confront the thought that promotes terrorism.

Minister of Higher Education Dr. Mohammad Amer al-Mardini presented a comprehensive review of the ministry’s university admission plan for the academic year 2015/2016 as well as the difficulties facing the educational process and the efforts to meet its basic needs.
