Syria wins third medal in Triathlon Asian Cup in Philippines

Manila, SANA – Syria’s national triathlon team won on Monday a silver medal at 2016 Subic Bay ASTC Triathlon Asian Cup in Philippines.

The medal was gained by Mohammad al-Sabbagh who ranked second in the competitions.

On Saturday, Syria’s national triathlon team won two gold medals that were earned by Ahmad Mardanli in junior competitions for men and Wisal Saloukheh in junior competitions for women.

Triathlon, which is a multiple-stage competition involving swimming, cycling, and running in immediate succession over various distances, has been a recent sport in Syria. The Triathlon Union was only founded in 2005, yet the Syrian triathletes have been making quite remarkable achievements on the regional and international levels.
