Some 8 projects worth SYP 20 billion inaugurated in Lattakia

Lattakia, SANA – Premier Wael al- Halaqi on Saturday inaugurated and laid the foundation stones of a number of development projects at an estimated cost of SYP 20 billion in the coastal Lattakia province.

He opened the new building of the General Electricity Company of Lattakia at a cost of SYP 100 million and a Basic Education school worth SYP 250 million.

Other projects included the Housing Savings Project, with 1500 apartments valued SYP 6 billion, and the Medical Waste Treatment Plant for Lattakia and Tartous that is worth SYP 400 million.

The Premier also laid the cornerstone of the Integrated Solid Waste Treatment Center, whose cost is estimated at SYP 8 billion and which will include a compost factory, a solid waste treatment facility, a demolition debris processing plant and a sanitary landfill.

Foundation stones were laid also for two irrigation projects worth SYP 1.265 billion and SYP 612 million, respectively. The projects are expected to benefit approximately 210,000 people.

The Justice Palace project, whose cost is estimated at SYP 6 billion, was among the projects inaugurated by the Premier.

Al-Halaqi later inspected the rehabilitation works to repair the damage inflicted by terrorist acts on the Citadel of Salah Ed-Din, which has just reopened its doors to visitors.

Yesterday, the Prime Minister opened and laid the foundation stones of several projects worth around SYP 17 billion in Tartous province.
