Cabinet approves new mechanisms for licensing imports, orders sending more food supplies to Aleppo

Damascus, SANA – The Cabinet discussed in its weekly session on Tuesday a number of issues including the issue of the families of martyrs and injured people, and the economic and services situation in Aleppo.

During the session, which was chaired by Prime Minister Imad Khamis, the Cabinet approved a new mechanism for granting licenses for importation that seeks to achieve justice and competitiveness and prevents importers from monopolizing importation of goods, with emphasis on importing essential products and the requirements of the agricultural and industrial sectors.

The Cabinet also allowed the External Trade Establishment to import goods and granted it wider jurisdiction and authorities.

The Ministers then discussed the situation in Aleppo city, deciding to send large amounts of food items, vegetables, fruit, and fuel to it.

The Cabinet also decided to expand the citizen services centers after they proved to be successful, and decided to increase gasoline allotments for each province and to begin distributing heating oil as of August 20th at 400 liters in two batches per family.
