200,000 ADSL gateways to be set up by 3rd quarter of 2014

Damascus, SANA – Syrian Telecom (ST) provided 82500 ADSL broadband gateways to a number of telephone centers in five provinces.

ST Commercial Manager Ahmad Sunbul told SANA that 41800 gateways were set up at centers in Damascus and 3650 others were allocated for Damascus Countryside.

21700 gateways were also set up in Lattakia, 9850 in Tartous and 5500 in Sweida, according to Sunbul.

The ST is working within a contract to set up 200, 000 gateways since mid July, with the installation the rest of the gateways to be competed during the 3rd quarter of 2014.

Sunbul pointed out that the ST is planning to implement another contract to install 200,000 more ADSL gateways in various provinces by the end of the year.

The figures of the ST indicate that the number of ADSL broadband gateways already in service in service by mid June is 377601.
