Syria and OPCW discuss cooperation

The Hague, SANA- Deputy Foreign and Expatriates Minister Fayssal Mikdad met Director-General of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW), Ambassador Ahmet Uzumcu on Friday in The Hague.

The two sides discussed cooperation between Syria and the OPCW and means of enhancing and developing it.

Points of view were in  agreement regarding the progress achieved on issues related to the work of the organization in Syria, affirming the need to continue cooperation until completing the remaining tasks launched in Syria following its accession to the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC) in 2013.

On a relevant context, activities of the 22nd session of the Conference of the States Parties in the OPCW wrapped up on Friday after adopting a group of recommendations presented by the organizations’ Executive Council.
