Syrian expatriate participates in international marathon in Slovakia wearing military uniform

Bratislava, SANA- Wearing the uniform of the Syrian Arab Army, Syrian expatriate Imad Barakat participated in Peace (Mir) International Marathon in the Slovak city of Kosice.

The marathon is the second oldest international marathon in the world after Boston Marathon in the US, and it is being held with the participation of 13,000 elite runners from 40 states.

The Syrian athlete attracted attention through his participation in the marathon as he was wearing the uniform of the Syrian Arab Army and the Slovak audience and the European media outlets watched him with a great attention.

In a phone call with SANA Barakat said “In every championship I used to achieve excellent results and my greatest celebration will be through hoisting the Syrian flag in Europe , Asia and Africa, and this time I am wearing a military uniform in the marathon as a token of love and loyalty to the Syrian Arab Army which has fought terrorists from all parts of the world.”
