Churkin: Missing chance to start intra-Syrian negotiations “unpardonable mistake”

The United Nations, SANA – Russia’s ambassador to the UN, Vitaly Churkin, on Thursday said that the intra-Syrian negotiations scheduled for the end of this month in Moscow offer a “unique chance” to launch dialogue between the Syrian government and the opposition.

The Russian state-run news agency Tass quoted Churkin as saying “To miss this chance means to make unpardonable mistake” in regard to ending conflict in Syria as soon as possible and mobilizing all Syrian forces to fight international terrorism and violent extremism.

He warned that the opposition sides which refuse to participate in Moscow meeting will lose.

The inter-Syrian negotiations are due to take place in Moscow from January 26 through January 29.
