Nasrallah stresses no political solution in Syria without President al-Assad

Beirut, SANA – Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hasan Nasrallah stressed that no political solution in Syria could be possible without President Bashar al-Assad, noting that President al-Assad can guarantee the implementation of any political solution.

During an exclusive interview with Al-Mayadeen TV Network on Thursday, Nasrallah said that the Israeli airstrikes against several targets in Syria are a major violation, and “we consider that any strike against Syria is a strike against the whole of the resistance axis, not just against Syria. The resistance is capable of responding. It could happen any time.”

He asserted that the Resistance is ready to invade Galilee and the Israeli settlements which lie beyond Galilee, revealing that Hezbollah has Fateh-110 missiles, which have a minimum range of 200 kilometres (125 mile), that can hit the whole of Israel.

He said that Hezbollah has no relationship with the resistance in the occupied Syrian Golan, yet the party is ready to assist the popular resistance there.

Nasrallah noted that the battlefield shows that the Syrian army controls most of the Syrian territories, including main cities, while the presence of the Islamic State in Syria and Iraq (ISISI), al-Nusra Front terrorist organizations and and the so-called free army is limited to a number of areas in Damascus countryside, Daraa and Quneitra.

He stated that talking about political solution in Syria should put an end to the fighting and solve the whole crisis, not just the problem of the political opposition, therefore when a regional and international decision to curb the presence of ISIS and al-Nusra Front organizations, including all forms of support, protection and facilitations, is reached, then there would be a possibility for talks about political solution to end the war in the country.

Nasrallah noted that Saudi Arabia, if it is willing, can play an important role and help reach a political solution in Syria, but the real obstacle lies in that Turkey continues to provide support and facilitations to the ISIS and al-Nusra Front organizations through its borders, in addition to establishing training camps and smuggling weapons and oil.

He said that the US-led alliance is not serious in its battle against the ISIS, which has grown and developed under the sponsorship of the US, Turkey and other western countries with the aim of toppling the Syrian and Iraqi governments.

Nasrallah said that the US administration is no longer concerned with excluding President Assad from the political solution in Syria, but those who insist on preconditions are regional countries such as Turkey Saudi Arabia and Qatar, noting that, with the passage of time, the international community will realize that no political solution in Syria could be possible without President al-Assad and if he stayed as a result of the settlement efforts, the international community will accept that.

He noted that one of the regional states has finally announced that it accepts any solution that provides for the regime, the army and al-Baath Party to stay, noting that their only condition is the departure of President al-Assad, adding that such statements express their depression and frustration as they reached the fact that they cannot change the reality in Syria or impose anything on the government there through battlefield.

Nasrallah pointed out that the latest developments indicate that there are steps which have been taken to pave the way for reaching a political solution since the international players cannot leave the situation in Syria and Iraq as they did in the past few years after the failure of their scheme in the region.
