Syria-Algeria inks MoU on Seismic Risk Mitigation 

Damascus, SANA- The National Earthquake Center signed Wednesday a memorandum of understanding on scientific and technical cooperation with the National Center of Applied Research in Earthquake Engineering (CGS) in Algeria.

The MoU includes cooperation in Seismic Risk Reduction.

“Moreover, the MoU includes training qualified technical personnel and sharing experience between specialists in seismic engineering as to contribute to the development of the center in oreder to improve emergency response, and basic infrastructure”, Raed Ahmad, Director General of The National Earthquake Center said.

“The importance of the MoU lies in the fact that CGS owns an engineering laboratory which assesses the dynamic behavior and performance of vital concrete buildings”, Director General Ahmad told SANA reporter, adding that the activation of the agreement will enable Syrian specialists to conduct required experiences to develop the Syrian Earthquake Building Code.
