Damascus, SANA-The Arab Weightlifting Championship kicked off on Monday at al-Jalaa Sports City in Damascus with the participation of 120 players from Egypt, Iraq, Lebanon, Yemen, Jordan, Libya, Palestine and Sudan in addition to the host country, Syria.
During the opening ceremony, Artistic and dancing shows and A documentary about the ancient city of Amrit was screened in addition to the weightlifting game in Syria and its history.
Head of the Syrian Sports’ Federation, Firas Maala pointed out in a speech to the importance of holding the championship in Syria, showing the great role played by the international Federation to organize the tournament in Syria.
