Syria proposes boosting barter exchange with Russia

Damascus, SANA – Internal Trade and Consumer Protection Minister Hassan Safiya discussed with a Russian trade and industrial delegation means of establishing a co-trading center, joint companies and a Syrian businessmen center in Russia.

Holding exhibitions for the two countries’ products was also discussed during the meeting on Tuesday.

Safiya expressed Syria’s readiness to bolster trade exchange through bartering where the Syrian side exports citrus fruits, vegetables, canned foods and cotton products for wheat and flour from Russia.

The Minister pointed out to the need to find new means for goods exchange through which neither the Syrian side nor the Russian may incur any financial burden.

For his part, head of the delegation Aslan Panesh, who is the director of the Russian company Adyg-Yurak, highlighted his country’s keenness to develop and expand trade and economic cooperation with Syria to include medicine, education, agriculture and industry, as well as establishing joint investment projects and finding means that guarantee the supply of food materials to the people of both countries.
