Over 75 local companies participate in MODATEX 2016-VIDEO

Damascus, SANA- The textile and leather clothing exhibition MODATEX Spring-Summer 2016 opened on Wednesday at Dama Rose Hotel in Damascus, with the participation of more than 75 local clothing companies, tradesmen and industrialists.

Assistant Minister of Economy and Foreign Trade Samir Khalil noted that the wide participation of local companies and businessmen is clear evidence on the recovery of textile sector and its ability to produce and meet the needs of the local market, as well as its role in developing exports.

For his part, Head of the Syrian Exporters’ Federation Mohammad al-Sawwah stressed the Federation’s continuous efforts to provide support and all possible facilitations to industrialists and exporters to help them overcome current circumstances.

Director-General of Exports’ Development and Promotion Commission Ihab Ismandar underlined the importance of the textile industries in Syria and the sector’s major contribution to the country’s national economy and exports, indicating that textile products constitute a good percentage of Syria’s exports.

A number of participants said that the exhibition conveys a message of steadfastness, resilience and continuity, and aim at promoting Syrian products and opening new markets inside the country and abroad.

Industrialist Mohammed Hamwoi, the owner of Merry Kasab Cotton Company, said that the exhibition provides an appropriate opportunity to announce re-launching his company which has been destroyed by the armed terrorist groups.

Iraqi businessman, Saad Noumaan Saleh, said that his visit to the exhibition aims at getting acquainted with the latest Syrian designs and making deals, noting that there is high demand for Syrian goods in Iraq.

The exhibition, which lasts till Thursday night, is organized by the Syrian Exporters Federation in cooperation with the Economy and Foreign Trade Ministry, Federation of Syrian Chambers of Industry and Exports’ Development and Promotion Commission.
